DKW are thrilled to announce that Old Street are to publish Hideous Creatures, a dark, magical and exciting literary debut by S E Lister.
Ben Yarde-Buller acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) in Hideous Creatures from Bryony Woods at Diamond Kahn & Woods Literary Agency.
Set in colonial America, the title revolves around Arthur Hallingham, a young English gentleman who is running from the secrets of his past, and Shelo, a medicine man with mysterious powers, as they travel through the dark, unmapped territory of the New World with a sinister purpose in mind.
Yarde-Buller said: ‘This is a wonderful, remarkable debut – a major achievement. It would be remarkable even if the author weren’t so young. The prose is rich and poetic – in the best sense: it’s also precise and controlled; the characters and the dialogue are vivid; the story is compelling and original. And it lends itself well to a gorgeous hardback production. I’m looking forward enormously to working with Sophie and trying to make this the success it deserves to be.’

Old Street are to publish Hideous Creatures as a lead title in hardback in April 2014, with a paperback to follow in 2015.
