Bryony Leah is a freelance fiction editor whose love of books and general word nerdery have been a driving force since the age of 11, when she taught herself to submit her first ‘novel’ to literary agents, armed with a library copy of the Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook and a whole lot of ambition. As a teenager, Bryony gained more than 15 million reads of her early writing on Wattpad, and she had a short story published in Gallery Books’ IMAGINES anthology in 2016.
It was while working in public libraries that Bryony started professional training as a proofreader, and since 2017, she has edited more than 200 books, winning a Print Futures Award in 2020 for her self-started editorial business working almost exclusively with women writers. Having spent some time living in Miami, she loves to journey Stateside through fiction, whether while reading, writing, or editing.
Bryony now lives in Staffordshire with her husband, a noisy Dalmatian, and two manuscript-hungry house rabbits. A Professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, it’s rare to find her without a dictionary or thesaurus open somewhere!
