Welcome to Nina de la Mer

We’re very excited to welcome Nina de la Mer to DKW!  Nina is now represented by Elinor Cooper.

Nina’s debut novel, 4 A.M., was described by bookgroup.info: ‘set on a British army base and in the anarchic club scene of ’90s Hamburg, 4 A.M. tells the story of Cal and Manny, squaddies and diehard ravers, whose individual voices resonate in a sparkling debut novel of friendship, love and betrayal. An anthem for the E generation.’ John Niven called it ‘mesmerising’.

Layla, Nina’s second novel, is a tense, unflinching and hugely moving story of a week in the life of a lapdancer and young mum as she attempts to regain control of her life. Layla was Scottish Book Trust Pick of the Year 2014, chosen as one of Hello! Magazine’s Book Of The Weeks, and The Londonist said of it ‘Nina de la Mer’s second novel drops you right into the heart of Soho’s lap dancing scene… in a second-person narrative so immersive you can practically smell the baby oil… you’re swept along by the vivacity and personality of the incident-prone protagonist, with a voice that’ll stick in your head after you’ve finished reading.’

Nina is currently working on her third novel, The Decadents, set in Brighton.
