A quick look back, and an exciting look ahead

We’ve had a fantastic first week in business – thank you to everyone who has been in touch with us, and shown so much enthusiasm and support – and we’re feeling really buoyant and excited about the hard work to come. We were so pleased to be able to announce our first few authors – keep an eye out for more information on Virginia Macgregor, Nicole Burstein, David Owen and S. Lister next week. We’ve got lots of great things set up between now and Christmas, and lots of lovely submissions to dive into.

We had an especially inspiring end to the week, as on Thursday evening we went to the Children’s Book Circle Eleanor Farjeon Award event, held at Penguin Publishers’ headquarters. The Award went to the inimitable Quentin Blake, and was accepted by illustrator Emma Chichester Clark on his behalf. It was a truly inspiring evening – the keynote speaker was the legendary Shirley Hughes, who recalled some of the wonderful fan letters she has received, a good reminder of why working with books is so special: there is nothing better to see than the passion and imagination inspired by a great read.

It was a great end to a great week, and we can’t wait to get to work helping to discover many more new authors and introducing their talent to the world.
