Matilda Tristram studied animation at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 2008. Since then she has worked as a children’s writer, lecturer, illustrator and animator.
She was co-writer on two animated TV shows for CBeebies with Ragdoll Productions, The Adventures of Abney and Teal and Dipdap. Dipdap won a BAFTA in the short form category. Her short films have screened at over 30 festivals internationally.
Matilda and her partner Tom Duxbury write stories together; their picture books, Santa’s Beard and Santa’s Reindeer are published by Walker Books. She also writes comics, many of which can be found on her website. Her graphic memoir, Probably Nothing, about having treatment for stage 3 bowel cancer whilst pregnant with her first baby was featured in The Guardian magazine in 2013 and published by Penguin Books in August 2014.
Matilda and Tom live with their son James in a cosy flat on a hill in south London.
