The Get Into Book Publishing course is a four-day vocational course running from April 16th – April 19th 2018, organised by Bluebird Consulting and to be held at University College London, which will provide a comprehensive, industry-supported, accessible introduction to publishing.
For the second year running, Diamond Kahn & Woods Literary Agency are pleased to be sponsoring one place on the course for a candidate who lives outside of easy commuting distance from London.
As a company, DKW are keen to support initiatives aimed at increasing employee diversity in the industry, and as UCL alumni (DKW founders Ella Kahn & Bryony Woods met on the UCL MA Publishing course in 2009) this felt like the perfect project to get involved with. Regional diversity is something that is often overlooked, but the prohibitive costs of travelling to and staying in London for courses and internships is a real barrier to entry which we wanted to address.
By covering the course fee of £250, we hope to make those additional travel and accommodation costs a little less prohibitive, and thereby enable the participation of a candidate who would not otherwise have been able to attend. (Please note that DKW will only cover payment of the course fee, and candidates must make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation. The course leaders can help with low cost accommodation if required through the Spare Rooms Project and through UCL Halls of Residence).
DKW will also offer their sponsored candidate two sessions of one-to-one mentoring in the six months following completion of the course, at a time convenient to them, either face-to-face or remotely.

The selected candidate will be announced on Tuesday 27th March 2018.
