Stripes to Publish Sharon Gosling’s YA debut FIR

DKW are pleased to announce that Stripes have acquired Sharon Gosling’s YA debut novel FIR for publication on their Red Eye list in February 2017. Ruth Bennett acquired World Rights from Ella Kahn at DKW. FIR is a briliant YA horror novel crackling with tension and we couldn’t be more excited – congratulations, Sharon!

FIR by Sharon Gosling:

We are the trees. We are the snow.

We are the winter.

We are the peace. We are the rage.

Cut off from civilization by the harsh winter of northern Sweden, the Stromberg family shelter in their old plantation house. There are figures lurking in the ancient pine forests and they’re closing in. With nothing but four walls between the Strombergs and the evil that’s outside, they watch and wait for the snows to melt.

But in the face of signs that there’s an even greater danger waiting to strike, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish reality from illusion. All they’ve got to do is stay sane and survive the winter…

Sharon says: ‘I’m very proud and excited that Stripes have decided to publish FIR as part of their wonderful – and wonderfully horrific – Red Eye strand. As a reader I have loved their past titles, and I know that it is the perfect home for this story.’

Ruth says: ‘I’m delighted to welcome Sharon Gosling to the Stripes list with her debut YA title, FIR – a spine-tingling and highly original addition to the Red Eye list. In FIR, Sharon has created a memorable teen voice that gets right under your skin. Through the protagonist’s eyes, the reader is drawn into the terrifying experience of living in an isolated corner of Sweden. Combining local mythology, insanity and the disturbing mysteries of an old plantation house, this is a multi-faceted and atmospheric horror story that will chill you to your bones.’

Ella says: ‘I’m thrilled that Stripes will be adding FIR to their Red Eye list – you couldn’t get a more perfect match of publisher and story. Their enthusiasm and vision for Sharon’s creepy, tense, pulse-pounding novel is infectious, and I can’t wait for them to publish FIR!’
